Watford fought back from 2 goals down in half-time to draw at home to Arsenal in Quique Sanchez Flores’ first match since being reappointed Hornets manager.
They levelled the scores when Roberto Pereyra wrapped at a late penalty after Tom Cleverley had reduced the deficit when Gunners shield Sokratis Papastathopoulos gave away possession inside his own area, to take only their second point of this year.
When he gathered the pass of Sead Kolasinac over the flip pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had put the visitors in front.
Arsenal doubled their lead as Aubemeyang completed a sweeping staff movement as the Gunners unravelled in front of the home service, however, the hosts improved after the break.
The Hornets had their chances to complete a comeback with a critical second, but the Gerard Deulofeu dragged his effort wide.
The result sees go into seventh at the desk, although the Hornets stay rooted to the foot of this table.
The Arsenal striker is just one of the most clinical forward in the English top flight, with scored with seven of the final nine shots on goal, and the Gunners are very capable of blowing teams away going forward as a result of the potency of Aubameyang and the technical skill of Mesut Ozil and Dani Ceballos.
As they went for their next target 20 passes they demonstrated that their flair – but glaring issues remain at the back.
This was clear as early as the 10th minute as space opened up for Cleverley, whose ferocious effort was saved by Leno and the white and red shirts.
Five minutes afterwards, also Etienne Capoue was awarded space and the exact identical time but could shoot on the bar.
The Gunners want to play out from the back, and they persisted with their approach even though Matteo Guendouzi lost possession inside his own half.
And Sokratis made the error which always seemed likely to happen, before Deulofeu redirected the ball into the route for Watford aim of Cleverley.
The Brazilian has endured at the beginning of his Arsenal career, and has conceded two penalties in 3 matches, although david Luiz was introduced from London rivals Chelsea to shore up the defence on the summer.
Luiz brought Pereyra using a lunge down in the final 10 minutes and the replacement stepped up himself to take the penalty and salvage a point for the hosts.
