British pet shops to be banned from selling puppies and kittens

Pet shops are to be prohibited from selling kittens and puppies by the federal government in a crack down directed at quitting pet farming.
Thirdparty earnings of dogs or cats under 6 months old will undoubtedly be banned, which means buyers will need to cope directly with the breeder or an authorised rehoming center.
The move, introduced by the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), follows public consultation that saw 95% of the public supported for this a ban.
It follows regulations that were new, that came into force on 1 oct, which prohibited authorized sellers from coping in dogs and kittens under eight months .
Before this year, a request backing the Lucy’s Legislation marketing campaign to halt to sales by third party industrial dealers was signed by 150,000 persons and triggered an argument within parliament.
Defra reported the ban, that can be introduced”when parliamentary time permits” into 20-19, would help it become harder to”high-volume, low-welfare breeders” to use.
Animal welfare minister David Rutley, that declared the ban on Sunday, paid tribute to the Lucy’s Law campaign, expressing the government was committed to making sure”the nation’s much-loved pets get the appropriate start in living”.
He said:”I urge anybody who is thinking of buying a pup, or any puppy, now of year to pause and consider very carefully prior to doing so.”

“We have consistently said an end to third-party earnings alone would not be enough to get rid of the dog trade crisis and we have been pleased that this is looked at along side enhanced licensing requirements because of breeders released before this year”
